Chapter 9 - Personal pronoun

Personal pronouns are used in place to specific person or thing.

Beware that category of person, number, gender and case will effect to types of pronouns (as table below) to be used in sentence

Pronoun, possessive and reflexive 

Subject & Object pronoun

1. She kicked the ball - 3rd person a woman as subject who perform action 'kicked' the ball 

2. It was they who killed her - It not use as subject but complement of verb (to be) and subject 'they' come after verb as subject and direct object 'her' received action of verb 'killed'

3. Stop! , Go away, Play it again please - Imperative don't use subject

4. She is taller than I - Subject is used after than 

5. She run as fast as he Subject is used after as

6. He threw me the ball - Indirect object 'me' accompany direct object the ball

6. Have you spoken to them? - 'me' as object of preposition

7. I like her more than him - according to point 4, after than must be subject pronoun. If we take a look in deep, there are 3 pronouns in sentence I as subject her and him as object (compare to no.4 there are only 2 pronouns). The sentence mean I like her and him but I like her more so the sentence is correct

8. I like her more than he - the sentence mean I and he like her but I like her more so the sentence is correct

It's I - used in formal writing and follows linking verb (is, am, was, were)

9. It's I, don't be afraid

10. Is it John? Yes It's I

It's Me - informal style and follows action verb

11. It is me in the picture

12. Is it Anna? Yes it's me

Possessive

13. This is her car - her is possessive adjective describe the noun 'car'. It comes before the noun

14. The car is hers - show possessives it comes after linking verb

15. I am going to buy myself a t-shirt - subject and object is the same person
